Engr. Joseph Akpan

aka "Sir Joe" President and CEO

Born  in Uruk Ata Ikot Ebo, Etim Ekpo LGA, Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria, Engr. Joseph Akpan is an Innovative and results driven IT professional with strong technical and troubleshooting knowledge. 

Experienced in network Security, infant protection systems, electrical installations and wiring, Report Writing, and general system maintenance. In addition, experienced in networking, telecommunications, and electrical systems with clear passionate for customer service, the less privileged and the down-trodden in the society. After a Successful Completion of his Primary and Post Primary Education at Four Towns School, Uruk and St. Augustine Secondary School, Urua Inyang, Ika LGA respectively, he went to the Rivers State Polytechnic Bori, Nigeria, where he obtained his National Diploma in Electrical/ Electronic Engineering (ND. Elect/Elect Eng.). Out of his quest for knowledge, he enrolled for his Degree (B.Sc.) in Computer and information technology/cybersecurity and cloud computing at the prestigious East Coast Polytechnic Institute ECPI University, Green Allen VA (USA). Not satisfied with his academic qualifications, he further went to the Brensten School of Education, Wisconsin, USA where he bagged an Associate Degree in Applied Science Computer Support And Network Administration in2015, having attended the RCCG Bible College and obtained a Diploma in Theology earlier in 2010.  With these qualifications, he became passionate and successfully involved in pastoral work, Electrical/ Electronics, Network Security and Systems Administration among others.

The Information and Communication Technology Specialist out of his quest to give voice to the voiceless, hope to the hopeless and leverage to the down-trodden in 2016, founded REFUGE GATE FOUNDATION with Headquarter in USA.  The NGO launched and recorded its presence in Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria in 2017 with the sole mission of restoring hope to the teeming hopeless population of both resident and indigent children, youth, men and women of Akwa Ibom State devoid of tribe, religion and race.  Over the years, the Foundation through her Educational supports/ Empowerment programs have been embarking on various educational supports programs in various Primary and Post- Primary Schools across the three senatorial districts of the state. Books as well various educational materials are being distributed to the less privileged pupils and students in these schools. With the schools supports programs, the NGO whose slogan is “One Love, One voice”  together with its representatives across the state, at the moment is directing her efforts and resources towards women and youth empowerment across the state even without any supports and partnership.

Engr. Joe as fondly called is a devoted Christian of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) and is married, with Godly children.
